The “Abrasevic” ensemble from Serbia is the winner of “Dukatfest2016.”
Grand Prix was awarded to KUD “Abrasevic” from Serbia. Prize for most authentic performance was awarded to “Bursa Sword Shield” folkdance association from Turkey. The most beautiful dance style was shown by Folk dance ensemble “Dardedze” from Latvia, while Festival special prize was awarded to music band “V1MAST” from Indonesia.
The festival director Natalija Trivić said that a combination of traditional program with a modern expression was implemented this year, since the organizers wanted to create the brand of the festival which will also bring close a younger crowd that will surely enjoy folk music from different parts of the world, together with pop or rock music.
Banja Luka impressed by the sounds of Columbia
The second festival evening featured an incredible performance of the “Zaite” ensemble from Columbia. The crowd enjoyed the vivid colors and sound of Columbia – their diverse repertoire which they prepared in order to present their country’s tradition in the best way possible.

By the defile of the contestants at the plateau of Christ the Savior temple at Banja Luka, last night the 9th international folklore fest “Dukatfest” has had its ceremonial opening.
At the festival that will be ending 22th June, we are welcoming contestants from nine different countries, India,Latvia,Turky, Columbia,Serbia,Spain, Sli Lanka, Slovakia,Indonesia.
What truly marked the evening was the concert of the music duet from Indonesia called “V1MAST”, who performed in front of a large crowd in the “Petar Kočić” park.
The central competition evening will be held tomorrow at 21:00 al the “Kastel” fortress.
Everything is ready for the opening night of “Dukatfest”
Last preparations for the opening of the 9th International Cultural Festival “Dukatfest” are being finalised.
Assembles from India,Columbia, Latvia, Indonesia, Spain, Turkey, Sri Lanka, Slovakia, Serbia, and Bosnia and Herzegovina are on their way to Banja Luka and they are bringing the spirit of diverse culture, customs and dancing routines and expressions to our town.
Natalija Trivic, the director of “Dukatfest”has announced and confirmed at the press conference held today that the festival scheduled for Saturday the 21th of Jun at 21:00h will go as planed and it will start on the plateau in front of the church of the Christ The Savior where everyone will have an opportunity to meet and greet performers of this year “Dukatfest”.
Natalija Trivic said that one of the most loved tradition of “Dukatfest” is defile done by the performers each year, where performers dressed in national folk costumes will parade through “Gospodska ulica” (Gospodska street) at 20:00h and bring to life the festival atmosphere in its full glory.
This year “Dukatfest” will introduce new and important addition in the program, traditional dancing routine is going to be performed in contemporary arrangements by bands from Indonesia and Columbia under the name “Step Out Corner”.
The main competition will start on 20th of Jun at 21:00h at the “Kastel” fortress.

For the 9th time in the row the largest international cultural festival in Republic of Srpska and Bosnia and Herzegovina “Dukatfest” will be held between 18th and 22nd of Jun in Banja Luka.
The assembles from Columbia, Sri Lanka, India, Indonesia, Slovakia, Spain, Latvia, Turkey, Serbia and Republic of Srpska will perform in Banja Luka.
- For the first time we will introduce as a part of the program dancing and musical performance, as a part of a “Step Out Corner” two concerts by our guests from Indonesia and Columbia.
Through the program of “AKOK” (All Colors Of Culture) tourism and culture of festivals performer’s countries will be introduced by the festival. Art Kraft corner is allocated for the domestic and international creative participants of the festival – as indicated by Mrs Trivic.

9th International culture and music festival “DUKATFEST” will be held in Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina from 18.06. till 22.06.2016.
In recent years, “Dukatfest” hosted more than 70 folk and music ensembles from 43 countries around the world, and has proved to be one of the leading festivals of folk dances and songs of the Balkans. Successfully cooperated with festivals in the region and facilitated the participation ensembles in their program.
In the festival program of “Dukatfest” in 2016, traditionally, will perform 10 ensembles from around the world. The first ensembles, with the highest number of points in the competitive part of the Festival, will win Grand prix “Dukatfest” – 600 euros. All ensembles-participants will be awarded with plaques and certificates of Festival.
Completed applications for participation in the “Dukatfest 2016” must be submitted no later than 31.12.2015.

OFFICIALLY CLOSED THE 8TH INTERNATIONAL FOLK FESTIVAL “DUKATFEST 2015”
At the central Festival competition night performed folk ensembles from Bosnia and Herzegovina, Serbia, Russia, Moldova, Italy and Cyprus, who competed in three categories – for best presentation, authenticity and style. A jury of experts, composed of representatives of the states from where the competitive ensembles were, decided that the Grand Prix award for the best presentation go to ensemble “Čajavec” from Banja Luka, Bosnia and Herzegovina, the best style has been awarded ensemble “SU MASU” from Italy, and the folk group ” Kriva rijeka” from Kosovo (Serbia) has been assessed in the category the best of authenticity performance.
The Krajina Square in Banja Luka gathered several thousand visitors, which once again confirms the quality of this folk festival. In accordance with the opinion of the participants “from organization to hospitality – everything was perfect”.
ART & CRAFT MARKET
Selling exhibition of souvenirs of the representative ensembles participants Dukatfest and creative people of the Republic of Srpska / Bosnia and Herzegovina has been successfully implemented in the Krajina Square, Banja Luka with a large attendance of citizens.
There were traditional souvenirs, jewelry, objects with traditional motifs in contemporary appliance on the tables and everything else that characterize and promote diversity among countries and nations. Art & Craft Market “Dukatfest – New folklore” has been realized with the support of UN agencies, within the project “The Dialogue for the Future”.
A round table “Cultural Heritage – creativity and self-employment” was held in the Music Pavilion, in Petar Kočić park. This project aims to encourage young creative people of Bosnia and Herzegovina in the design of modern products in the traditional spirit, opening opportunities in their self-employment, development and promotion of ethnic tourism, and, as a final goal, highlights their networking and cooperation all over Bosnia and Herzegovina, which focus is to promote the cultural diversity of Bosnia and Herzegovina.
“Do we have an awareness of cultural heritage”?, “Does cultural heritage could be a basis in self employment or employment at all?”, “Does cultural heritage could become a modern product”? – These are just some of the questions that were answered by the participants of the round table: Amila Terzimehic – UNESCO, Mladen Banjac – The Museum of Contemporary Art of Republic of Srpska, Mladen Šukalo – Tourist Organization of Banja Luka, Anita Šimundza – Gender Centre of Government of Republic of Srpska, Marko Potkozarac (Marko Feher) – fashion designer, Slavica Radić – Association “Dragana’s Garden” Banjaluka, Jasmina Kutragić – Women Association Vakuf, Natalija Trivić – director of IFF Dukatfest, Ivana Dojčinović – Faculty of Technology Banja Luka. At the festival that will be ending 24th June, we are welcoming contestants from 6 different countries, Italy, Moldova, Russia, Cyprus, Serbia and Serb Republic. The ensemble from India will not be a part of the festival, as announced before unfortunately, for there was a car accident involved.
Before the first performance took place, the festival director, Natalija Trivić stated that this year’s organization had the support of the general sponsor BH telekom, friends of the festival Unikredit bank, and Konzum company as the Grand prize sponsor. The director expressed the special gratitude to the UN which have supported the project “ Dukatfest-new folklore”.
In the festival program we have announced the performances of the ensembles form Moldova, Cyprus and Italy that will take place in Laktaši while the ensemble from Russia will perform at Modriča, along with the Ethno-group “Vida” and the town choir .
At Monday, the 22 June, a round table will be held at Banja Luka with the main subject “Cultural heritage : Creativity and self-employment”. That will start at 10 am, and last until 1 pm. It will be held at the Music pavilion at the Petar Kočić park. At that same time, the sales exhibition with artwork and souvenirs of the contestant ensembles and creative individuals of BiH will be happening at the Krajina square.
The central festival night is planned at 21:00 on Monday, 22th June, at the Krajina square.
The festival contestants are competing for this year’s Grand prize in the amount of 600 Euros, as well as for the best style and authenticity categories.

In the music hall of Petar Kočić par a press conference was held today regarding the opening ceremony of the 8th international folklorefest “Dukatfest 2015″. The festival program and the arrival of the contestant ensambles were presented to a great number of local media.
The festival director Natalija Trivić stated that everything is read for the begining of the festival.
And that this year as well as the year before we will strive to present the contestant ensamble’s cultural herritage in the best way possible to the audienc of Serb Republic.
“This year we will welcome ensambls from Moldova, India, Russia, Serbia, Cyprus and BiH. The ensamble from Russia has already arrived, while the other ensambles are expected to arrieve in the early morning on Saturday. The festival will justify it’s existence with it’s programme as well as with the fact that we have the support of local partners BH telekom, Unikredit bank and Konzum company, and the suport of UN within the “Dukatfest-new folklore” project, that is also a part of this year’s festival”,Natalija Trivić, the directorof the festival said.
“The ceremonial opening of the festival will be at Saturday at the plateau in front of the Crist the saviour temple. The ceremonial defile of all the contestants will be at 20:30 and starts with the walk from Krajina square with the final stop at the plateau. The opening ceremony itself will start at the 21:00.”, Jovana Simić, the programme director has stated.
The central festival night will be at Monday, June 22. at 21:00 at Krajina square.
Besides Banja Luka, the festival’s location will this year also be at Laktaši and Modriča.

“Traditional in new “
The workshop titled “Traditional in new “ took place in Banjaluka, within the project “Dukatfest – New Folklore”, brought together about 60 participants who created traditional motifs in modern product.
Participants had the opportunity to master the technique of making “zmijanjski vez”, decoupage techniques, making jewelery from Fimo, learn the basics about the characteristics and types of clay and modeling techniques.
The work involved creative creators from Banja Luka, Novi Grad, Prijedor, Doboj and Bihac.
The workshop was held within the project “ Dukatfest – new folklore “ which aims to create a platform for new knowledge, creative industries, and networking creative people from the Republic of Srpska and BiH.
The products that were created in these workshops, will be on sale on the official sales exhibition at the Krajina Square in Banja Luka during the festival days in June.
Within Festival program will be organized a round table on the topic “ Self-employment of women through creative industry “ where the focus will be on branding artifacts with traditional motifs in contemporary application.
The project “ Dukatfest – new folklore “ is supported by the project “ Dialogue for the Future “ which is implemented through UN agencies.
By participating in creative workshops participants are entitled to participate in recording promotional films about their work that will be broadcast within the central festival evening “ Dukatfest 2015.“ od 22. of June. Films will be distributed in the countries of which ensembles participate in the festival.
The next workshop will be held on May 16, on the Faculty of Technology in Bihac.
Press conference on the occasion of International Folklore Festival “Dukatfest 2015″
Ensembles from Egypt, Moldova, Italy, India, Serbia, Cyprus, Russia and the Republic of Srpska / Bosnia and Herzegovina are the participants of this year’s festival, which took place from 20 to 24 June in Banja Luka, Gradiska, Modrica and Prnjavor.
This year the festival organizers have said that this year they are especially proud about the project “Dukatfest – new folklore” .
The director of the festival Natalia Trivić pointed out that within the framework of this project will be held workshop “Traditionally in the new” in Banja Luka (26.04.2015.) and in Bihac (05.16.2015.). She pointed out that the applications for participation in the workshops are open to all creative people untill 23 April, and can be downloaded from the official website of the Festival www.iff-dukat.com.
All participating in creative workshops are entitled to participate the competition for the recording of promotional films about their work that will be broadcast within the central festival evening Dukatfest’s, and will be distributed in the countries from which ensembles participate in the festival.
Round table on the topic “Self-employment of women through creative industries” will be held in June and the focus will be on branding artifacts with traditional motifs in contemporary application.
Through those workshops and round table “Dukatfest” this year is supported by the UN – and all within the project “Dialogue for the Future” that carried out by agencies of the United Nations.
